This year's Reach the Peak Hike-A-Thon will be held in concert with the return of the annual Day in the Park event as scheduled on August 11th.

For those participants concerned about the strenuous activity involved in the hike, we are offering an alternative!  Lassen Volcanic's Superintendent Jim Richardson will be leading off-trail hikes every hour on the half-hour to Hike-A-Thon participants who are looking for an easier alternative to climbing the Peak.   For more information about air quality at the park or a peak at the sky via webcams visit their Air Quality page.

At this year's Hike-A-Thon you can enjoy a more leisurely hike while learning about the landscape on a trail that's not normally available to park visitors, or you can strap on your hiking boots and climb all the way to the top!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2017 Reach the Peak Hike-A-Thon!   We had over 140 people participate on Sunday, July 30th from 8am - 4:30pm. The sun was shining, the butterflies were migrating and visiting the hikers along the path, and smiles were had all around.  The little bit of snow that lingered around the base of the trial made for an exciting time for youngsters of all ages.
