Reach the Peak!

The next major project of the Lassen Park Foundaiton is to support Lassen Volcanic National Park's "Centennial Challenge" to reach the peak.

Over the course of five years, we will set out to raise $150,000 per year (a target of $750,000) to restore and improve the Lassen Peak Trail.

By reaching the peak, so to speak, one of the national park's most popular experiences will be greatly improved.  Planned are widening of the trail to allow head-on foot traffic to pass, the addition of two comfort stations, relocation of telecom-munications towers away from the summit, development of a loop trail around the crater and establishment of a new trail to the Lassen Peak Trail from Manzanita Lake.

Reaching the peak will not be easy.  Our fundraising target is half again larger than the one we accepted for the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center, but we're confident we can do it with the continued help and efforts of park visitors and Foundation members.  Our objective is to have trail improvements in place or underway for the centennials of Lassen Volcanic National Park and the National Park Service.  So, let's all work together to "Reach the Peak!"
