Since 1984, the Lassen Park Foundation has supported Lassen Volcanic National Park and Lassen National Forest with project funding for a total of nearly $1 million. From trail restoration, to scientific research, youth programs, interpretive signage, to support for a true visitor center for Lassen Volcanic National Park, the projects enrich the visitors experience in the Lassen region.
The largest of past projects was the Foundation's contribution to the Lassen Crossroads Information Center, located at the northern entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park at the junction of highways 44 and 89. The center, which was dedicated in 2000, was a collaborative effort of Lassen Volcanic National Park, Lassen National Forest, and the Lassen Park Foundation. The total budget for the four pavilion open structure was $800,000 and was hailed as an innovative public-private partnership.
Currently the Foundation is supporting the Park's effort to create a visitor center near the Southwest entrance to the Park.
Kohm Yah-mah-nee
The foundation is currently working to raise funds for Kohm Yah-mah-nee, a visitor center near the Southwest entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park. Specifically, we are working to fund some of the exhibits and a state of the art video for the facility.
Youth Camping Program
Each summer the Lassen Park Foundation sponsors camping trips for youth from backgrounds of limited resources who would not ordinarily have the chance to have this experience.
